If there is one thing The Millennial Mamas love, it is entertaining and getting together with our girlfriends. Okay there might be a few more thing that we love and movies is definitely one of them. When we got the chance to host a Home Again, the new Reese Witherspoon movie, home watching party, there was only one answer…YES!
Planning the menu is something we always love doing. We knew we wanted to do some light bites and so we made one of our favorites, homemade pizza. One of the key parts of making a great homemade pizza, is sauce. Yes you can buy pizza ready to go and you can definitely buy pre-made sauce but we love making it from scratch.
What you need:
- Organic Can Tomato Sauce
- 1 Tbsp Minced Garlic
- 1 Diced Shallot
- Pinch Italian Seasoning
- Pinch Pink Himalayan Sea Salt
- 1 Tbsp Sun Dried Tomatoes in Olive oil
- 2 Tbsp Butter (Plant or Animal Based)
- Chopped Basil to taste
Directions:
- Put butter in a pan and let melt
- Add shallots to melted butter
- Once shallots carmelize, add tomato sauce
- Bring to a slight boil and add the rest of your ingredients
Once your sauce is ready, I like to buy the pre-made garlic and herb pizza dough from Trader Joes for that extra homemade taste when I don’t make my own dough. This is a great recipe for homemade pizza night, breadsticks and sauce or a little party appetizer. We made three large pizzas for our party and there was sauce leftover for dipping.
Home Again was a fun movie written and directed by Hallie Myers-Shyer in her directorial debut. Reese plays a 40-year-old newly single mother (Alice) of two girls who allows three young aspiring filmmakers to live with her in her Los Angeles home. It is a fun romantic comedy.
Fun Fact: The house that Alice lives in Home Again was Cindy Crawford and Randy Gerber’s former home
Also, no party is complete without some dessert. We made some fun holiday Rice Krispies complete with gold sprinkles!
