A Bad Moms Christmas

May you Eat, Drink and Go to Therapy this Holiday Season !
Something happened after the release of the first Bad Moms movie in 2016. Moms banned together, talked about the “crap” and shared the stresses of motherhood. They went in groups, over and over again to see women bonded together from different homes share an adventure over the monotony of responsibilities of motherhood and a stressful marriage. This hilarious film brought in over 180 million dollars worldwide!
The Millennial Mamas got to take a journey to see the newest film, A Bad Moms Xmas and it left us in nothing but tears. We laughed until we cried and we laughed some more. From writers Jon Lucas and Scott Moore, A Bad Moms Christmas brings all the feels of the holiday season, and if you are a mom you know those feels are overwhelming stress. Producer Suzanne Todd captured these moments perfectly with just the right amount of booze and emotion. Todd is quoted as explaining, “The idea of A Bad Moms Christmas is to tear down some of these personal, societal and cultural norms of both torturing ourselves for not being good enough moms and allowing other people to put us in a place of self doubt about how we mother our children. We want to express that it’s okay to be yourself and not worry about the noise of Christmas Cards, and dinner and all the rest of it.”
Some of the highlights of the interviewing the Mila Kunis, Kathryn Hahn and Kristen Bell at the press junket were:
- Kristen Bell on Motherhood: Self-care, and forgiveness and not feeling ashamed for anything and just being confident in your decisions is a really important part of life that no one talks about. And for me that’s what this movie is about. It is okay to want to go get a massage. It is okay to say to your husband I need seven hours off tonight, point blank period
- Kathryn Hahn: One of the important messages of both movies is just like the lack of judgment and self-criticism, to try to like let that go because, like Kristin was saying, its like we only are mommies to these little people for a very short amount of time and if you don’t want to spend like any excess nonsense worrying about crap, whether it’s what this–you know, what your cupcakes look like, or like you know what I mean? Like whose cupcakes are better than–like it just seems to be so–we just spend too much time thinking about other things, I think
- Mila Kunis on Mom Guilt: Like I’m not going to pretend like I have no problem going out my girlfriends. I absolutely have guilt over it. I have an amazing partner who is like get over it. Get out. So I do have somebody that’s constantly like pushing me to like, you know, be my own human being. That doesn’t stop me from having guilt.
A Bad Moms Christmas hysterically captures all the classic parts of Christmas that can put many of us moms over the edge, including a special visit from your own mother. A Bad Moms Christmas brought in the dynamic of the mother-daughter relationship and didn’t disappoint in a all star cast. Christine Baranski, Cheryl Hines and Susan Sarandon came on the scene to take on these powerful roles and drive their daughters a little crazy. The best part was actually seeing little pieces of your own mothering habits in these intense characters!
Without telling you two much we have a strong feeling that we will be seeing much more of this pack of Grandmas and we can’t wait !
So grab your girlfriends and mom friends, get a sitter so you can see Bad Moms in theaters on November 1st!
