And just like that, summer break is almost officially over and our kiddos are headed back to school. That means early wake up, rushing out the door, homework and trying to keep everyone from getting a cold or flu so we can continue our jam packed schedules. Here are a few ways we super charge our days to stay as healthy and strong as possible.

Every morning as soon as that alarm sounds off at 6:30am, we jump out of bed and head straight into the bathroom to brush our teeth. I leave our Renew Life probiotics (chewable kids for him and 30 billion for me) on our bathroom counter with a glass of water so we never forget to take them first thing in the am. I used to take probiotics at night with the rest of my supplements but I recently learned that you should take a high quality probiotic on an empty stomach so that it makes it through your entire gut before releasing the “goodies” or the billions of little pro bugs, so you get the most out of your probiotics. Studies have shown that 70% of our immune system comes from our gut, so a healthy gut means a stronger immune system — which we definitely need going into the winter months . That is reason enough for me to take a probiotic every morning. Also note that most of the time you will not see a “huge” difference right away with taking supplements and/or probiotics, it is the cumulative nature over time that you will notice feeling healthier and have less inflammation
Quick Tip: Make sure you check that your probiotics still contain the “number of strains” at the time of expiration, many have the number of billions of bugs at time of manufacturing.
Fun Fact: 95% of your serotonin is found in your gut…so essentially 95% of your body’s happiness is found in your gut (how cool is that???)
Once teeth are brushed, I zoom to the kitchen and put my little guy’s lunch bag into his backpack and then its the best part of the morning…smoothie time!

Milk (we use Almond or Coconut)
Dance Party while blending
and then a to-go cup for school
Once I kiss my kiddo goodbye, I usually head out to a workout class or walking the dog.
